New Websites and Blogs | Big Changes | Last Post

Well, this is officially the last post that will take place on this blog. We are moving in a new direction with our photography and things are changing in big ways. We are super excited to officially launch and announce two new websites and one new company. As of the 1st of January Still Light Photo will no longer offer wedding and portrait photography, but will be moving into commercial, advertising, and editorial photography. You might be asking yourself, "OH NO! What about wedding photography?!" Don't worry, we aren't discontinuing that by any means. In fact, the whole purpose of this change is to specialize more in-depth with wedding photography by creating an entirely new company called, Zack and Becky Sacramento Wedding Photographers. With this big change comes two new websites that are completely redesigned from the ground up. If you go to www.stilllightphoto.com you'll find our commercial, advertising, and editorial portfolio with work specializing in adventure sports, outdoor lifestyle, and active lifestyle photography. If you head on over to www.zackandbecky.com you'll find our portfolio specializing in wedding and portrait photography. We are super excited about this new change and what it could mean (what we are hoping it could mean) for our businesses. We've been working like crazy to make this change happen by the end of the year and we are so happy with how everything has worked out. As far as the websites go, we looked long and hard at website companies to find websites that were easy to use, fast, and most importantly, mobile device friendly. For the last year or so we've had our eyes on A Photo Folio websites and the more research we did the more everything we wanted in a website pointed to A Photo Folio. We made the plunge and haven't regretted the decision for one second. The guys over at A Photo Folio have been amazing to work with and we are so excited to have them on our side. We can't thank them enough and we love how both websites turned out. What's even better is that both websites came with all new blogs. You can visit our new blogs at either www.stilllightphoto.com/blog or www.zackandbecky.com/blog. Looking back at this year 2012, it's amazing to see how Still Light has grown. Officially, 2012 was only our second year in business. We are really looking forward to 2013 with this momentous transition. It's been awesome to watch and even more amazing to be a part of, and we can't wait to see where Still Light and now Zack+Becky will take us. We want to thank all our friends and family for your support, and we especially want to thank all of our clients, past, present, and future. Without all of you, all of this would not be possible. Thank you! We've attached some screenshots to show the new websites, but feel free to click on any of the links to check the websites out for yourself. Leave a comment on the new blogs or either one of the new Facebook pages and let us know what you think of the big change. You can follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/stilllightphoto or www.facebook.com/zackandbecky.

This past weekend we got to photograph our great friends, the Feigles, and their new baby boy, Parker. Parker was great and cooperated throughout the entire session. Eric and Quinn are very close friends of ours and we are so excited for them as they begin building their little family. We love you guys and we are blessed that we get to watch Parker grow up. We had a great time the other night in Apple Hill. Here are some of our favorite photos from the session. Enjoy!

Dirt Bikes | Adventure Sport Photography | 13 November 2012

My brother recently purchased a dirt bike. It's a Honda 125cc, two stroke, that literally screams. So, the other day he took it out to Prairie City (a local motor vehicle state park) and I followed along to take some photos. What the heck, why not, right? It turns out, this hobby he has got himself into is a lot of fun to watch. It's probably more fun to participate in, but I know if I hop on that bike I'll want one... and right now I'm just not in the market for a dirt bike. :) Anyways, who knows if I was supposed to be down on the track, but I went down anyways and before I knew it 6 hours had passed. I had so much fun. I even ended up passing out my card to a bunch of the riders who were interested in ordering prints. If you're one of the guys who asked for my card, you can find a lot more photos on the Prairie City private gallery I have posted on my WEBSITE. Just go to my website and click on "clients." You'll be prompted for a password. The password is: dirtbike

I'm really happy with how the images turned out. It was an overcast, cloudy day, so the lighting was awesome pretty much all day. My favorite image though is the first image. It'll definitely be going into my portfolio. All day I was trying to capture the dirt spitting up into the air as the riders accelerated out of the corners. The first image just happened to be one of the first photos of the day. Enjoy!

Your Vote Counts | Beach Running | 5 November 2012

This past weekend Becky and I went down to Southern California for four days. I surprised my lovely wife with a trip to Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo for her birthday. We had a great time spending the weekend with great friends. Since the trip was a surprise, I had to come up with a reason for being down South in the first place. So, when we arrived I had scheduled a photo session with some friends in Huntington Beach. Not only was the shoot an excuse to go to Southern California, but it also ended up helping in the portfolio we have been working on creating. This weeks "Your Vote Counts," we have two very similar images, and we need your help in deciding which image is the most visually pleasing. I don't want anyone getting all technical, I just want your gut reaction. Which image is your eye drawn to more, Top or Bottom? You can also vote on our Facebook fan page. Enjoy!

Your Cote Counts | Editorial Photography | 25 October 2012

Winter is quickly approaching and the weather has started to change pretty rapidly. Our favorite ski resort got dumped on during the most recent storm. Yay! Becky and I are super excited to get up on the mountain. While we were dating, we spent a lot of our time together snowboarding. Snowboarding has a special place in our relationship and we are super excited for this new season to get rolling. In light of that excitement, and the fact that we are still working on building our new portfolio, I wanted to get a couple snowboarding editorial photos. We went with a white seemless background because... well, I just love how clean it looks. The subject jumps off the page with white seamless. White seemless backgrounds offer infinite options for composition, so this weeks "Your Vote Counts," we need your help in determining which layout to choose. We also can't decide on whether or not we like black and white, or color. Honestly, we are leaning towards the color image. The orange and blue really pop with the white background. Let us know what you think in the comments, Top, Middle, or Bottom. We love hearing everyone's feedback. You can also vote over at our (Facebook fan page).Enjoy!

Sacramento Wedding Photography | Mark+Christi | 23 October 2012

I haven't second shot for someone in a long time, but recently I got a chance to second shoot for Gary Coelho. Gary is a photographer from Las Angeles. He contacted me a couple months ago because he was shooting a wedding in Stockton and he needed a second photographer. We weren't booked, so I jumped at the chance to learn from someone new. The wedding was beautiful and I had a blast working with Gary Coelho. We photographed the wedding of Mark and Christi who were an absolute joy. They are hilarious together. I'm only blogging a handful of images because this was Gary's wedding, but they are definitely some of my favorites. Mark and Christi's wedding was full of moments filled with emotion, including some of the funniest speeches I've ever heard. It was such a fun day and I'm super glad I had the chance to be a part of it. Thanks Gary for letting me tag along. I had a great time. Enjoy!
